Why not a product ID? Flat IDs can’t enumerate combinatorial print — one product easily exceeds a million variants. The PTPGE fingerprint derives identity from the configuration itself (open PTPGE URIs, canonically hashed, ptpge-cfs/1): same configuration, same key, at any vendor — and a reorder is the same hash resolved again.
The Configurator and the Engine are API-first: a licensed REST API and MCP tools that agents call directly — configure, validate, fingerprint, quote, match. Keyed and metered · opens with the Configurator (September 1).
