GutenLex — press kit

Background material for journalists and analysts: who we are, what GutenLex is, the open specification it builds on, logo files and colours. This page is updated as the work progresses.

Please note. GutenLex is in Public Beta: figures and wording may still change, and this is not a launch announcement. Quotes and figures on this page are free to use. For a statement, a comment or an interview, write to us — we answer quickly. Logo files may be used editorially as they are, without recolouring or redrawing.

About GutenLex — boilerplate

GutenLex makes a print business machine-readable. A print shop describes its presses, materials, finishing and products once, in a Vendor Profile; GutenLex turns that into a capability envelope and a catalog that marketplaces, LLMs and AI agents can read, validate and match — so a buyer's configuration routes to the shops that can actually make it, and comes back as a quote with a verifiable identity.

The products: the Configurator (a buyer's request → a validated configuration with a fingerprint), the Engine (matching, quotes, order hand-off), the Directory (print shops and makers, searchable by capability), the Vendor Profile and Supplier Profile builders, a hosted WebMCP script and a UCP capability so agents can act on a vendor's own site. Reference vendor: trykkverk.no.

GutenLex is operated by GutenLex Technologies AS, Oslo, and builds on PTPGE, the open specification of print. GutenLex® is a registered trademark (EU).

The specification behind GutenLex

PTPGE — the open specification of print One meaning across every language of print, and one identity for every printed product: open terms with permanent URIs, product templates, and the configuration fingerprint (ptpge-cfs/1). Held by PTPGE, a non-profit association; CC BY 4.0; no key. GutenLex is one implementation. ptpge.org · the 3-minute film (16 languages) · Technical Note No. 1 — Content-Addressed Identity for Configured Goods (DOI) · API and MCP server
